Some Things You Need to Know Before the World Ends

January 11, 1990 - January 27, 1990

Some Things You Need to Know Before the World Ends explored issues of blind faith and organized religion through the characters of Reverend Eddie and Brother Lawrence, survivors of an apocalypse who have taken shelter in their church. As Reverend Eddie prepares his final sermon, his grip on reality and his faith are challenged by the unseen presence of the Illuminati. The action of the play takes place in The Church of the Holy Station, an edifice done in garage grunge at some unspecified time and place. There are hints that Rev. Eddie and Brother Lawrence may be the two final survivors of a sort of Armageddon. But the audience becomes part of the play, being drawn in as Rev. Eddie’s congregation, and they are often pulled into the action. Therefore, the oblique comments about a nerve gas attack killing off the entire congregation seem a bit odd and difficult to relate to Reverend Eddie’s fear that the Illuminati are about to take over the world.
