At This Evening’s Performance
February 2, 2007 - February 17, 2007
At This Evening’s Performance, by Nagel Jackson, was a farce set in a fictional Eastern European country in the days of Communist rule. In a provincial town, a rag-tag theatre company is performing some classic about ancient Romans. One of the actors in the company belongs to an underground resistance group, and he’s arranged that one of the lines in the play will be the cue that sets off a major demonstration. But rumor has it that the secret police know about these plans and will shoot the actor when he speaks the line. This understandably makes the members of the company nervous.
